ENHANCED PRESS in collaboration with CHIAROSCURO s.r.l. presents "the STURMTRUPPENs". Created by Bonvi in 1968, the Sturmtruppens are one of the most appreciated and successful Italian comic strips ever, translated in eleven languages and published in twenty countries. Offering several “reading levels”, the Sturmtruppens are fit to every kind of user; since 2005 they are living a new youth, charming new generations of young fans. Now, with the iPhone App called iSturm we are looking at their future.

The strips are part of the comic genre but they never forget to state a reject for violence and war through irony: one of the most effective and easily understandable methods. The Sturmtruppens' camp is a universe populated by privates and army officers, metaphor of all the communities divided between the advantages of authority and the injustices of a population that must obey.

The stories take place during the WWII-era, but the camp mechanisms (abuses of power, tricks and cheats, but also comradeship and survival spirit...) are timeless: references to current facts are often introduced inside the narrative context, improving the humorous effect. True fun is the main goal of the Sturmtruppens.

The use of the “Germanish”, parody of the German language, has now entered into collective imagination both in Italy and abroad (“you speak like a Sturmtruppen!”), but also the parodying setting of a war movie, the officers’ craziness, the disastrous defensive tactics, prisoners, allies and rookies: everything contributes to trigger the irresistible humor of the comic.

One of the comical mechanisms of the series comes from the contrast between the extreme martial severity and the futility of the contest in which the batallion lives. You will laugh with slapstick comedy-like gags, but also with surreal and sharp dialogues, in a single unity of instant, usable and polished humour: the interpretation on more levels, a feature of the Sturmtruppens, makes them extremely funny for a motley public, from childs to adults.
